Dutch Apple Pie
Ingredients: Crust: 250gr flour, 150gr butter, 80gr sugar, little cinnamon and 2 eggs. Filling: 1 kilo apples, peeled and put in cubes, raisins, vanilla sugar and cinnamon.
How to cook:
Mix all ingredients minus 1/2 egg for crust with your hands to a consistent, smooth dough
Roll out 3/4 of the dough to cover the bottom and sides of a greased round (24cm) spring form tin.
Preheat the oven to 170 C
Mix all ingredients for filling
Roll out the remaining dough and cut into long strips, each about 1cm wide. Start with the longest strips and lay the first two in an X in the centre of the pie. Alternate horizontal and vertical strips, weaving them in an over-and-under pattern. Brush with remaining (beaten) egg.
Bake for 60 minutes until golden brown
The pie on this picture is actually made by my dear friend Ann form the States, while she was visiting me in Amsterdam.
