In the Netherlands we bake oliebollen on 31st of December. Really, the entire country smells like frying oil!
It is fairly easy, as you get a package of “oliebollenmix”, add water and raisins and mix. Let it sit for half an hour and fry about an ice scoop size (for one bol) in oil. You can fry about 5 at the same time, depending on how large your frying pan is.
Sprinkle with icing sugar and enjoy!
